About Solutek Corporation
Solutek is the oldest manufacturer of photographic chemicals in the United States in continuous operation under the same ownership. Over 50 years!
In 1961, Solutek was founded to acquire an X-ray Solution Service Business located in a garage in Boston, MA. That company had been in business since 1946. It manufactured and sold X-ray Developers and Fixers to hospitals and clinics in Eastern Massachusetts.
Over the past half century, Solutek has grown in physical size, number and types of products, and market range. Today Solutek owns 40,000 square feet of production space, manufactures about 100 products, and sells them throughout the U.S. Solutek also exports its products to multiple countries throughout the world.
Solutek’s products are sold under its own label as well as numerous, well-known private labels of other companies. Some of its product lines are sold direct to end-users, others through a network of dealers and distributors. In 2012, Solutek began to sell some of its products online.
In order to assure the highest quality, all Solutek products are manufactured in a single plant in Boston, MA. Distribution is from warehouses in Boston and Dallas, TX. Each batch of product manufactured by Solutek undergoes a series of quality tests, including the processing of test films or plates for which they are intended to be used.
All operations are under the direct supervision of personnel trained in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, and Photographic Technology. The average tenure of all Solutek employees is 18 years. Particular attention is given to employee safety, protection of the environment, and sustainability. All chemical raw materials meet or exceed Photo Grade for purity. Mixing equipment is constructed of type 316 stainless steel, and all pumps and high-speed bottling equipment are made of inert materials.
The most popular package sizes that Solutek manufactures are one-gallon and 2.5 gallon jugs. Other package sizes range from 4 ounces to 300-gallon totes. All packages are made of high density polyethylene. Bottle caps are heat-sealed to protect the products from aerial oxidation and to prevent spillage in transportation.
As changes in the technology of imaging occur, Solutek changes by adopting new products to manufacture, new methods, and new methods of marketing.
